Square failed-payment recovery + dunning
Get back the revenue you already earned.
Recoup recovers failed Square payments and dunning-emails your customers from your own domain — smart decline-aware retries, hosted card-update pages, and the overdue invoices Square never retries. Flat monthly price. No revenue share, ever.
~10 min setup · read-only first · no revenue share

How it works
Connect Square once. Three loops run automatically.
Recover failed charges
When a card-on-file payment fails, Recoup reads the decline code and re-charges on a smart, decline-aware schedule — delay-and-retry insufficient funds, request a new card on expiry, never hammer a hard decline.
Dun from your own domain
A 4-touch email sequence goes out from your verified domain with a one-click card-update link — and cancels itself the instant the payment clears. No shared "no-reply" address.
Catch the invoices Square drops
A failed Square invoice is simply marked unpaid and abandoned — Square never re-charges it. Recoup keeps going: escalating reminders, a no-login card-update link, and retries on the card on file until it clears.
What your customer sees
A branded update page that fixes the card in seconds.
Every dunning email links to a hosted, on-brand page — your name, your logo. The customer taps once, enters a new card, and the recovery closes itself. No login, no back-and-forth.
- One tap from the emailA single link — no account, no password to remember.
- Square-encrypted, PCI SAQ-ACards are tokenized by Square’s SDK and never touch our servers.
- Closes the loop automaticallyThe moment the new card clears, retries and reminders stop.

See what's working
Every recovered dollar — and exactly how it came back.
Recoup shows the mechanics, not a black box: which retry attempt lands the save, how long recovery takes, which decline reasons are worth chasing, and how your dunning emails perform. Every number ties back to a Square object you can open.

What it does
Everything Square leaves on the table.
Decline-code-aware retries
Square only exposes decline reasons on a live charge. Recoup runs a self-managed billing loop to capture them and retry intelligently — not blind guesses.
Safe-harbor compliant
Card-network limits enforced: ≥24h between attempts, capped at 6 tries over 30 days, hard declines never retried.
Own-domain dunning
DKIM/SPF/DMARC-verified sending from your domain, with bounce + complaint suppression and one-click unsubscribe.
Invoices Square never retries
Square abandons a failed invoice as unpaid and never re-charges it. Recoup retries it on the card on file and duns until it clears — the gap Square leaves wide open.
Conservative attribution
Every recovered dollar ties to a Square object with a deep link. We under-claim before we over-claim, so the number is one you can trust.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
How is this different from Square’s own reminders?
Square sends passive, email-only reminders and never re-charges a failed card — a failed invoice just sits there unpaid. Recoup actually retries the payment on a smart, decline-aware schedule and duns from your own domain, which is the thing Square doesn’t do.
Do you ever touch the card number?
No. Cards are tokenized client-side by Square’s Web Payments SDK and stored as a card-on-file reference. The raw card number never reaches our servers.
What does it cost my customers?
Nothing extra from us — Recoup is a flat monthly fee to you, with no revenue share. You keep 100% of what we recover.
Is this a Square Marketplace app?
You connect via Square OAuth in about ten minutes — no marketplace listing or approval needed to get started.
Stop letting failed payments walk out the door.
